Simon Jordan has told TalkSPORT that he believes Everton should be targeting Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa as Marco Silva continues to come under pressure as Toffees manager, following another defeat.
Despite taking the lead through Richarlison at the King Power Stadium, Everton suffered a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City as Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho scored – the latter netting an injury-time winner which needed VAR to confirm he was onside.
Silva’s side now sit way down in 17th place in the Premier League, and they face an almighty uphill challenge over Christmas period. Everton take on Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United in their next three league games.
Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan has claimed he is not a fan of Everton boss Silva, and reckons Leeds manager Bielsa is the kind of manager Everton need to hire. The Argentine is excellent at Leeds, but only has a contract until next summer.
“There is no reason why Everton shouldn’t be able to attract an elite manager to come to the club,” Jordan said. “When you talk about Marcelo Bielsa managing Leeds, why wouldn’t he be managing a team like Everton?
“That’s the sort of appointment in terms of quality of thinking that would ultimately take Everton forward.”
TBR’s view – Bielsa would be a stunning appointment for Everton
Just ask any Leeds fan. Since his arrival in the summer of 2018 at Elland Road, the Argentine has reignited the love between the city of Leeds and the football club. They are close to promotion, and currently sit top of the Championship.
So, should Everton move for Bielsa? Everton need a manager that can stabilise the club and keep them in the Premier League this season. Bielsa has plenty of flair, but Leeds have conceded just 10 goals in 19 games. He would be a top appointment.
