Simon Jordan says Arsenal have a player in their ranks who's not 'fit for purpose'

Simon Jordan has warned Arsenal not to sign Tammy Abraham, citing previous “bad business” in landing David Luiz and Willian.

Abraham is reportedly on the Gunners’ radar after falling out of favour under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.

The Athletic report that Arsenal favour a loan move, while the Blues want to sell for £40million.

However, the Gunners haven’t had much success with two recent signings from Stamford Bridge.

David Luiz and Willian joined in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

The former has been decent in parts but didn’t exactly light up the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, the latter has been a disappointment and reportedly wants to leave Arsenal already.

And while Luiz has now left the Emirates, Willian remains at the club on a reported £220,000-a-week salary.

Arsenal guilty of “bad business and bad thinking”?

Jordan thinks Arsenal should steer clear of yet another player Chelsea seem happy to part company with.

“Those are players who those in their right mind would never think were fit for purpose at Arsenal,” he told talkSPORT on Thursday.

“It’s not so much a reputational thing it’s when you’re going up against your competition and your competition are saying: ‘This player ain’t good enough for me, but he’s good enough for you!’

“How does that work then? It’s universally accepting – and when I say accepting, I mean everyone excluding Kia Joorabchian – would think that the transactions that happened for Willian and David Luiz were just bad business and bad thinking.

“They were players that weren’t fit for purpose in the make-up of Arsenal that needed something more.”
