Simon Jordan asked if Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka is worth £100m

Simon Jordan has told talkSPORT that Bukayo Saka could be on his way to becoming a £100 million player if the Arsenal starlet continues at his current trajectory following his performance for England in their World Cup opener on Monday.

Saka was one of the players to steal the show for the Three Lions against Iran. Gareth Southgate’s side won 6-2 to seize the initiative in their group and put one foot in the knockout stages.

The 21-year-old scored twice for England in the win. The first came from a superb volley. Meanwhile, the second was brilliantly directed into the corner.

It was a finish Arsenal fans have become used to seeing. He has been absolutely electric since bursting into the first-team with the Gunners, with 63 goal involvements in 151 games for the club.

Saka a £100 million player?

Saka was a shining light in a disappointing spell for Arsenal when he got his chance. And he has continued to improve as Mikel Arteta’s side has got considerably better.

He is now establishing himself as a key name on the international scene. And with that, some will be wondering just how far he could go in the years to come.

Jordan was asked whether he is a £100 million player. And while he appeared to hint that he is not there yet, he did suggest that he could be well on his way to that level.

“Saka is one of those players who’s on the cusp of launching what will be potentially a stellar career,” he told talkSPORT.

“When we talk about what is a £100 million footballer, you look at Jack Grealish because he’s the incarnation of it. You look at Neymar. And I don’t think that he’s potentially at the Neymar level. He may never get to that. But what he is is a very, very good player.

“So in the economics of football, which is la la land, you would be able to make a case, not just on the back of the fact that he’s done well in one game, but the component parts of what he’s achieving at Arsenal, what he’s beginning to achieve at international level, and given his age and ability, he will be on a trajectory that, if Arsenal were to sell him, you’d be starting to move into that territory.

“You could find yourself making an argument that, at some point, if this boy continues his progress, he and a couple others may well be in the £100 million bracket.”

Arsenal will hope they never need to worry about his valuation

Arsenal supporters will hope that they do not have to worry about Saka’s valuation. They would be more than happy if he spends his entire career at the Emirates.

Certainly, you would imagine that Arsenal are destined for real success if they are going to be able to keep Saka happy throughout his career.

Previously, it seemed a matter of time before he would be snapped up by one of the best sides in the world. But Arsenal’s improvement and potential has surely changed the game.

It is just imperative that the Gunners continue to grow from here.
