Some Everton fans have welcomed the news that Duncan Ferguson will be working with Rafael Benitez at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have announced the appointment of Benitez as their new manager on a three-year contract.

Benitez succeeds Carlo Ancelotti, who left Everton earlier this month to rejoin Real Madrid.

The decision to appoint Benitez has split the Blues fanbase given the Spaniard’s legendary status at rivals Liverpool.

However, fans welcomed the decision to retain Ferguson, one of Everton’s most iconic players of recent times.

Here is what some Everton supporters were saying on Twitter about the decision:

Ferguson became an Everton legend during his playing days.

He enjoyed two spells with the Toffees and made over 200 appearances in blue.

Ferguson also won the FA Cup in 1995.

Now a coach at Everton, Ferguson took the reins on a caretaker basis in December 2019 after Marco Silva’s sacking.

The Scot steadied the ship with one win and three draws before Ancelotti was appointed permanently.

Alan Kelly will also work with Benitez and Ferguson.
