Manchester City were the worst team Marco Silva could have faced when looking for a result to get his Everton reign back on track on Wednesday night, which was borne out by a comfortable 2-0 win.
But if the sheer quality of Pep Guardiola’s side made that assignment as difficult as they come in the Premier League right now, tomorrow’s opponents Watford may lack that star quality but will be pumped up for the fight.
As reported by the Independent, Silva’s departure from Watford flared up into a compensation dispute with the Toffees, and the relationship between the club was further complicated by summer negotiations for Richarlison.
And the Hornets are now flying, a point and a place above Everton and would love nothing more than to deepen the misery Silva has suffered of late as his Goodison reign falters.

There is sure to be a hot atmosphere around Vicarage Road tomorrow, and it could well be the most hostile test of Silva’s Toffees credentials in front of a crowd who are not likely to be pleased with the Portuguese for the way in which he left the club or poached Richarlison.
And there is only one side who really look like they’re playing with the quality or desire to win the day tomorrow – which spells bad news for Silva.
