This summer Leeds United were linked with a host of potential new recruits, including talented Swiss defender Silvan Hefti.
As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the talented St Gallen captain was being considered at the very start of the summer transfer window.
Hefti has been in fine form in Switzerland and the Leeds transfer reports refused to go away.
Sport.ch reported that Leeds were still hopeful of signing Hefti this summer back in June. The report also documented that Hefti had just 12 months left on his contract. Meanwhile, Italian side Bologna made a £2.2 million bid for the player, as reported by Corriere di Bologna.
But Hefti soon had a contract extension triggered and decided to remain at St Gallen for the upcoming season.

Leeds moved on and signed Ben White on loan from Brighton and he has proven a massive success.
However, Leeds are hopefully still keeping tabs on Hefti. The 21-year-old has been in fine form for St Gallen so far this season. Playing at right-back, he has captained the side for every minute of the Swiss Super League so far as St Gallen position themselves as surprise title contenders. They have won their last four games and sit third behind perennial favourites FC Basel and Young Boys.
Leeds have recently lost Liam Cooper for six weeks, again highlighting just how short they are of options at the centre-back position.
Maybe the Whites should consider revisiting their interest in the Swiss under-21 star come January.
