Marco Silva has given an insight into his coaching methods at Everton, as well as the team-talk that inspired his side to beat Chelsea in their last Premier League game.
Speaking to the Everton official website, Silva explained how he managed to get his side from a chaotic first-half display, during which the Blues really should have taken advantage, to coming out winners by the end.
Silva said: “I am an optimist… I showed them what we had to do differently – being optimistic with them and passing them the confidence we needed to win the match.
“When you talk about leadership, it is something that comes naturally. When we are here, we are working – nothing else… it is a pleasure, because it is not just a job, it is more than a job, it is our passion, for me and my staff.”

Silva needed a statement victory to get his Everton reign off the ground and essentially, that 45 minute burst after half-time earned it for him.
For all the talk of Silva being a manager who prefers passing football, it was a display of guts, tempo and desire, topped off by a penalty and a goal from a set-piece.
But the Portuguese is clearly capable of rousing his players still and as long as they play with the passion that Silva references here, there’s still hope that he can take the Toffees where they want to go.
