It seems unlikely that Liverpool will add any more players to their ranks during the January transfer window.
Takumi Minamino signed from Red Bull Salzburg but it would be no surprise if that was the last mid-season deal done by Liverpool.
In fairness, who could blame Jurgen Klopp for backing his charges.
The Reds are top of the Premier League with a 14-point lead over Manchester City and are still in the FA Cup and Champions League.
Given that it is January, the links between Liverpool and various players won’t stop, however.
One man who has been mentioned as a potential target is Leverkusen wonderkid Kai Havertz.
Mundo Deportivo has claimed that Liverpool could offer the Bundesliga outfit £107 million for the wonderkid.
If Klopp does decide to venture into the transfer market, the 20-year-old is exactly the sort of play he should be pursuing.
Havertz can play centrally or on the wing and he could be the perfect player in Klopp’s all-action, high-intensity style of football.
He is quick, strong and has bags of ability when in possession of the ball.
Liverpool’s transfer strategy doesn’t tend to see them sign more than one big-money signing per window.
It has worked for them under Klopp’s management and there hasn’t really been a need to change such a tact.
If Klopp only adds one more player during the summer, it should be the £104,000-a-week (Bild) Havertz.
His versatility would make him almost like two new additions and it would see Liverpool sign one of the world’s brightest young talent.
The Reds are already proving to be a dominant force but Havertz could help continue their success.
Liverpool are well-stocked all over the park, except in attack.
If one of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino or Mo Salah misses out, they can be left short of a similar type of player.
Divock Origi is a big, uncompromising unit but he doesn’t have the same skill-set as Firmino, for example.
As a result, Havertz could be a truly perfect signing and Liverpool should do all they can to lure him to Anfield in the summer.
