Tottenham Hotspur could be ready to make a real statement of intent and complete a signing which would blow away many of their top six Premier League rivals by bringing Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic to White Hart Lane ahead of the 2018/19 season.

According to CalcioInsider, the Lilywhites are ready to make such a move for the 19-year-old as Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his squad for their debut season in their new look home next season.

It comes after the Daily Mirror reported that the USA international would be available at a very reasonable price of just £40 million, a bargain when considering that he is one of Europe’s most highly rated young talents.

Capable of playing on either flank with pace and fine dribbling, Pulisic would not have a natural role in Tottenham’s current set-up but could, like Heung-Min Son, adapt into more of a forward role to devastating effect.

At present, SkyBET make Liverpool the favourites whilst also suggesting that Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all in the running for his signature. Beating such a host of clubs would not only be a blow to direct rivals, but would also show that Daniel Levy is prepared to spend to take his team to the top.

The opportunity to work with Mauricio Pochettino, who has shown what he can do with young players with big potential, may help Spurs, and his ability to do just that could make Pulisic the world-beater to add an extra hint of quality to an already promising Tottenham squad.

Striker offload

Tottenham Hotspur are stepping up their attempts to remove Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente from the club.

The London Evening Standard is reporting that Tottenham are hoping to raise as much as £30 million in fees by selling the two striker flops.

Spurs signed Dutch international Vincent Janssen in the summer of 2016 but he failed to have an impact and spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce. Llorente arrived as his replacement from Swansea but also struggled.

Martial u-turn

Tottenham target Anthony Martial will now be allowed to leave Manchester United, according to reports.

The Guardian claim that United manager Jose Mourinho has performed a U-turn and wants the unhappy Frenchman sold this summer.

Tottenham have previously been keen but United want £80 million and would rather sell to foreign parties Bayern Munich or PSG.

Vertonghen wanted

PSG are keen on Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen. As reported by Les Parisien the French champions are looking to bring in a new central defender this summer who can also play in other roles.

The Belgian is the perfect option but Tottenham would seem very unlikely to sell. Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is also on their list.

Jose Mourinho interest should spring Tottenham into Harry Maguire action, using Toby Alderweireld

Tottenham would be better off losing the Belgian now and bringing in England’s World Cup star.

Manchester United are the latest team being linked with a move for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire. According to The Telegraph, Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the England World Cup hero and is readying a move.

Any deal would cost in excess of £50 million. The Mirror suggest he will cost £65 million and see the futures of Marcos Rojo. Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones jeopardised.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with Maguire this summer and this development should jolt them into action.

United are known to be very keen on Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld. The 29-year-old’s contract stand-off with Spurs has seen him linked with an exit this summer. Tottenham are standing firm on any asking price. The latest reports suggested that fee was £75 million.

But, in the long run, allowing Alderweireld to go for cheaper could be a stroke of genius from Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

Alderweireld is a far more ‘Mourinho’ player and the Manchester United boss would surely prefer him to Maguire. If Levy and Spurs allow the Belgian to go at a cheaper price it would leave the path clear to lodge their own bid for Maguire.

Tottenham would be ridding themselves of a contract rebel who, despite his brilliance, is nearly five years older than the England hero. In return, they would get Maguire, who would suit their style of play perfectly – especially if Mauricio Pochettino decides on playing a back-three.

A little convoluted? Perhaps. However, this could end up being the best case scenario for Tottenham.

Three reasons why Tottenham target Yehvann Diouf could be next Hugo Lloris

Hugo Lloris may be Tottenham‘s undisputed number one at White Hart Lane, but reports from France suggest that the club may already be casting one eye over potential long-term replacements.

France Football say that Spurs scouts have been busy at the Under 19s European Championships casting an eye over France goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf, currently on the books of Troyes AC.

The 19-year-old has only one year left on his current contract with the French club and could be targeted to bring him into the youth set-up in north London.

He’s a youth international

With 104 caps to his name and a recent World Cup winning captain, it’s easy to forget Hugo Lloris’ roots in the youth levels of the French teams. That’s where you’ll now find Diouf. Of Senegalese descent but having opted to play for France, he has featured for both France under 18s and France under 19s, where he is currently first choice.

It is with the French youth team where he is playing in the Under 19 European Championships in Finland and he could face future team-mates as he prepares to face England, including Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga, on Monday for a place at the semi-finals.

He’s being tracked by clubs from all over Europe

L’Equipe claimed that Chelsea were tracking Diouf in 2016 and he has long been on the radar of many sides, despite still not having made his first team debut in France.

Much like Hugo Lloris before he made the move to London, Diouf is likely to have plenty of options on the table if or when he decides the time is right to leave his native country.

He’s a superb shotstopper

Much like Lloris, Diouf’s key strength lies in his reflexes and ability to make astounding saves. Whilst he can still work on the aspect of having the ball at his feet, it has long been identified as one of the weaknesses in Lloris’ game.

With plenty of time until he would be replacing Lloris for Spurs, a few years of tutelage under him could really help bring his game up to the next level.
