‘Shouldn’t be anywhere near’… Pundit claims £25m Tottenham player is nowhere near good enough

Tottenham Hotspur are slowly but surely becoming one of the stronger squads in the Premier League.

Spurs got their recruitment in the summer spot on, and the additions of Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner this month have made them even stronger.

Spurs have also done a good job of chopping some of the deadwood in their team as of late as the likes of Eric Dier and Hugo Lloris have departed this month.

However, speaking on The Spurs Chat Podcast, Lianne Sanderson has highlighted another player who needs to leave Tottenham soon, claiming that Emerson Royal shouldn’t be anywhere near the Spurs squad at the moment.

Sanderson shared her verdict on the defender.

“Eric Dier, I know he’s been a good servant to the club, but you have to get rid of those types of players. I still think players like Emerson Royal shouldn’t be anywhere near the Spurs squad. Yes, he’s not starting many games, but the standards Spurs are looking for, those types of players can’t be there,” Sanderson said.

Emerson Royal is far from being Tottenham’s best player, but to say that he shouldn’t be near this Tottenham team is fairly harsh.

The Brazilian isn’t the most technically gifted player in the world, but he does work hard and he can do a job at right-back when needed.

If anything, Emerson Royal has really improved this season, and while you would probably want an upgrade on the Brazilian in the long-term, he’s not a huge problem in this squad at the moment.

Spurs have done a fantastic job in shifting some of their deadwood this month, but the £25m defender does still have a part to play in this squad, even if he’s only going to be a depth option in the long-term.

Royal certainly isn’t the biggest problem player at Spurs right now, that’s for sure.
