With first-team chances looking bleak at Arsenal, Mohamed Elneny could be on the move in January.
New manager Unai Emery clearly doesn’t rate the Egypt international and has only given him outings in the cup this season.
Despite having a contract until 2022, Elneny’s time at Arsenal could be coming to an end.
And according to The Sun, Arsenal are willing to sell him for £15m this January with Leicester City keen.
But should Wolves also be in the hunt for the defensive midfielder? Nuno Espirito Santo needs reinforcements in that department and Elneny could be the solution.
In Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho, Wolves have two talented central midfield playmakers who keep things ticking over in midfield.
But there are question marks over their ability to protect the back three.
A more natural defensive midfielder would provide the protection needed when Wolves face teams with top class attacking midfielders in their ranks.
Elneny could be the man for the job. At Basel, he had a reputation for breaking up the play and he has shown this in spells at Arsenal.
He might not be the man to take Arsenal forward but he could certainly benefit Wolves.
And at £15m, this could be a shrewd investment as the Egyptian enters the prime of his career.
