Should Tottenham ramp up interest in attacker Ollie Watkins?

Tottenham are reportedly casting their eye over attacker Ollie Watkins at Championship club Brentford, but is he good enough to make the step up to the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs scouts have been “closely monitoring” the 22-year-old speed machine.

In-form Watkins has started the new campaign in great form for Brentford, scoring four goals and supplying three assists already in the league.

The left-winger is a trickster that has brilliant technical ability and also a directness towards goal when he’s in the final third.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has a knack of developing young English talents, which is why the Brentford wide man could be an ideal target.

Watkins has managed to raise his game to a new level in the past 12 months and found it easy adjusting to life in the Championship.

But the concern would be over whether another leap up to the top flight would be too much and he would also be competing alongside the likes of Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela for a starting position at Spurs.

The North London club could do with some reinforcements in their squad in the winter window after they went through the entire summer without signing anyone and Watkins fits the criteria of an upcoming talent with great potential.
