Should Tottenham move for Premier League defender made available for transfer?

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen to sell Kieran Trippier this summer, meaning the north Londoners might be needing a replacement.

The England international endured a poor 2018/19 following a brilliant World Cup in Russia, and has been linked with an exit this summer.

Napoli and Atletico Madrid have been credited with an interest, although the Italian side reportedly now want to focus on signing somebody a bit younger (The Sun).

Spurs need some fresh impetus at right-back, with Serge Aurier having failed to convince in his two years in the capital.

Kyle Walker-Peters has shown flashes but doesn’t seem to be fancied by Mauricio Pochettino yet.

With all that in mind, perhaps the Champions League runners-up should consider moving for a Premier League right-back who has just been made available for transfer.

TBR’s view

Manchester City are open to selling Brazilian star Danilo, with Joao Cancelo closing in on a £50 million move to the Etihad Stadium according to The Sun.

Danilo, who reportedly earns £80,000-a-week (Spotrac), has been with the Citizens since 2017 following a £26.5 million move from Real Madrid (BBC Sport).

He has largely played second-fiddle to former Spurs right-back Kyle Walker, but has been an important member of Pep Guardiola’s squad over the last two title-winning seasons.

His versatility has come in handy for the champions, and some even rate him more highly than Walker.

Spurs should be considering a move for the 27-year-old, who would arguably be an upgrade on Trippier.
