Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez ahead of the January transfer window and are said to have made an offer – but should Tottenham Hotspur rival their north London enemies for Vazquez’s signature?
Tottenham have begun the 2019-20 campaign in dismal form and need investment if they are to save their season and finish in the top-four places. Just three wins from eight league games sees Mauricio Pochettino’s side sit in ninth place.
New signings Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon remain injured, while Jack Clarke has been sent back on loan to Leeds – where he has failed to make a single league appearance this season.
The likes of Erik Lamela, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura have performed to a decent standard, but they are a shadow of the players they can be and Tottenham need to inject some life into their attack.
Spanish outlet El Desmarque claim Arsenal have tabled an offer for Spain international Vazquez, with £17million enough to land the Real ace. Bayer Leverkusen and AS Roma have also made offers for the versatile attacker.
Vazquez can play up front or out wide, and would provide Spurs with noy only another quality winger but also cover for Harry Kane at a bargain price that even chairman Daniel Levy would have to admit is a bargain for a player of his calibre.
Surely, then, Spurs have got to join the race for Vazquez and blow their bitter rivals Arsenal out of the water to sign the Real Madrid star, who is desperately looking for a new club after just four starts under Zinedine Zidane this season.
