Steven Caulker – QPR

One noticeable thing about the Stoke of this season in comparison to last, has been the drop in levels of defensive solidity. This is understandable as Shawcross; their leader and best defender, has been side-lined most of the season. Steven Caulker, on the back of a disappointing season, will be available for transfer from QPR.

Caulker possesses all the traits to improve Stoke’s defence. Not easily bullied, and also comfortable on the ball, Caulker can add the quality to Stoke’s back four to help them return to the defensive record of the season before.

Caulker’s progress may have stunted in the previous few seasons, however, a move to Stoke will present the opportunity to forge a strong partnership with Shawcross, and help him reach the potential that many believed from his Tottenham days.
