Gareth Bale (ST)

Wales’ outstanding player will head to France full of confidence after helping Real Madrid to win their 11th European Cup last month. A huge amount of pressure lies on Bale’s shoulders with the entire nation’s hopes pinned on him.

However, whatever happens in France this summer, the Real Madrid man has already written himself into Welsh football folklore. He scored 7 of Wales’ 11 goals in qualifying including 3 winners and assisted another 2, propelling them into their first ever European Championships.

It means he’s already succeeded where the likes of Ryan Giggs and Ian Rush failed. However, top players always want more so Bale won’t be resting on his laurels ahead of the tournament and will be hoping to inspire Wales to the latter stages of the competition, something that would arguably eclipse all of his success at club level with both Spurs and Real Madrid.

Hal Robson-Kanu (ST)

Coleman’s final big decision is who will play up front alongside Bale. With 5 other ‘strikers’ in the squad (Robson Kanu, Cotterill, Vokes, Church, G. Williams) there are certainly options although none have been entirely convincing.

Robson-Kanu was the man in possession of the shirt during qualifying and despite only scoring 1 goal he provided a good foil for Bale. With Wales likely to be playing counter-attacking football, players with good pace will be a very useful asset which boosts the former Reading man’s chances.

However, he has been struggling with an injury and missed the squad’s only warm up game against Sweden. Despite this, Wales’ bluntness in attack means Robson-Kanu deserves the nod against to continue his partnership with Bale against Slovakia.
