Mark Noble

Despite captaining the England Under-18 squad, reaching the final of the European Championships at Under-19 level, and featuring for the Under-21 team on 20 occasions, Mark Noble has been overlooked by numerous senior
England managers over recent years.

His consistent form throughout the 2015/16 Barclays Premier League Season; featuring in 37 of West Ham’s games and picking up seven goals from central midfield, made him a worthy candidate to replace the likes of Manchester
City’s Fabian Delph or Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere in the provisional European squad.

With the ability to play in a deep-lying central defensive midfield role alongside Eric Dier for example, or sitting on the right of a midfield trio, the 29-year-old’s play-making skills would have allowed the England squad to spring counter attacks through pacey strikers Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge.

His average of an 86% pass accuracy this season, with 76% of those passes played forward, proves his worth as a fine central midfield option and led to many England fans rooting for the Hammer to secure a spot in the squad.

Perhaps Noble’s hot-headed character; exemplified by his eight yellow and one red card during this year’s Premier League campaign, swayed Roy Hodgson to opt for Fabian Delph and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson to operate England’s midfield at the European Championships this summer.
