Should these Manchester United or Liverpool stars replace Raheem Sterling against Wales?

Daniel Sturridge

The Liverpool man has faced a tough season, once again being in and out of the treatment room, but there is still no questioning his talent. Regarded by some as England’s best striker, the number nine possesses lethal finishing along with the same level of pace and trickery that Sterling offers.

Unlike Vardy, Sturridge is accustomed to playing out wide in a 4-3-3 formation because of his time at Chelsea in 2012 when Didier Drogba was preferred in the central striking role.

Sturridge also has the edge on Sterling when it comes to off the ball movement, with a lot of his club goals arising due to clever runs in behind defenders.

Hodgson can make use of this with Sturridge out wide as Sterling was often faced with an opposition defender whenever he got into attacking positions, whereas the pacey striker may be put through on goal more often, and it is hard to bet against the Liverpool man burying a 1 v 1.
