‘Should sell’: Jose Enrique says Liverpool should get rid of £75k-a-week player, amid confirmed PL talks
Jose Enrique reckons Liverpool should sell Takumi Minamino this summer if they receive an appropriate offer.
Minamino, who only joined the Reds in January 2020, has had a difficult opening 18 months. The Japanese attacker even spent the second half of this season out on loan.
The 26-year-old joined Premier League club Southampton on loan, who have since been in talks about a possible permanent move to St Mary’s.
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed, as relayed by The Boot Room, that his club are in discussions with Liverpool about signing Minamnio.
“We have had talks with them and they are not so sure what will happen with him because Liverpool may make some things happen in the transfer market,” Hasenhuttl said.
Ex-Reds defender Enrique has suggested on Instagram though that Minamino should be offloaded:
Should Liverpool keep Minamino?
Unfortunately, Minamino has done very little so far in his Liverpool career.
It’s unclear on where the versatile attacker’s position is, as he’s been used in both central and wide areas.
The competition is force to play regularly with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, but maybe he’ll return in pre-season with a big point to prove.
If the speedster has belief he can break into the Reds XI, he should knuckle down over summer. However, Southampton are an attractive alternative where he showed positive signs at before.
