Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita has been the subject of various transfer rumours and speculation over recent weeks and recently, he fuelled talk of a move to Manchester City by telling Die Welt he wants to play for a club like the Citizens.

Liverpool are another team courting the midfielder, according to the Independent, yet Keita’s admission has dealt a blow in their pursuit of the Guinean. Keita revealed that he could see himself playing for “one of the very big clubs”, citing Manchester City, alongside Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, as the teams he is most likely to join.

Clearly, the 22-year-old is very ambitious and has a great deal of potential. With Premier League clubs Manchester City and Liverpool thought to be two possible destinations this summer, where should he choose to go if Red Bull Leipzig were to accept an offer for their star man?

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a huge admirer of the midfielder, according to Sky Sports, and the player seems to be the typical high energy player that the German coach likes.

Naby Keita, who could cost more than £50 million, could be the man to take Liverpool’s midfield to the next level. He would be part of a squad that is on the rise under Klopp and would join new signing Mohammed Salah as they look to challenge on all fronts next season.

A potential star, the Guinean would be under the tuition of a world class manager. Klopp has developed many young talents during his managerial career, which should certainly appeal to Keita.

His development skills were demonstrated during his time at Dortmund, where the likes of Mats Hummels, Robert Lewandowski and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, to name just a few, made remarkable progress under the German and are now are considered some of the best in the world in their respective positions.

Manchester City

Equally, a move to Man City would see Keita come under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, who is also one of the highest regarded managers. The Spaniard is building a remarkable side at City, brimmed with stars, and the 22-year-old midfielder could well be another superb addition this summer.

A long-term replacement to Yaya Toure, Keita would be in a young midfield along with Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, who, as a trio, would scare any opponent.

The Guinean would receive a huge financial package as part of the transfer and perhaps this is something Liverpool couldn’t offer. The energetic midfield man would give City’s attacking talents defensive support, similar to that which Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante provided for the likes of Eden Hazard last season.
