A report from TEAMtalk this week is suggesting that Everton, Wolves and Leicester City are keeping an eye on John McGinn. The report claims that Aston Villa’s precarious survival battle in the Premier League has rivals on alert regarding a potential move for the impressive Scotsman.
But should Manchester United also be looking into a potential deal?
In the summer, it was looking like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen on a move for the Scottish midfielder. It came after the 25-year-old thrived at Villa Park with 8 goals and 10 assists in his debut season following a £2.75 million move from Hibernian.

Such form saw Manchester United being linked with a potential £50 million move for the player, as reported by The Sun.
A later report from the same publication suggested legendary United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was key to the interest. He is ‘close friends’ with Jack McGinn, the Villa star’s grandfather and former president of the Scottish Football Association.
Sir Alex was said to be a big fan of his pal’s grandson and was pushing Manchester United into making a move.
So should United swoop again?
It really depends on that asking price.
Manchester United are less in need of midfield reinforcements at present. The renewed form of Nemanja Matic and Fred has eased the burden whilst January arrival Bruno Fernandes has already proved to be a masterful piece of business.
But if Villa are relegated, and the asking price dips to a level far below last summer’s £50 million asking price, Manchester United could do a lot worse than making a move for this midfielder with Fergie’s seal of approval.
