With the departure of Manchester City legend Yaya Toure on the horizon, Pep Guardiola will seek out a midfielder that is able to control possession in a deep-lying midfield role.

Gündogan has been an integral part of this newly revitalized Borussia Dortmund team that has been the source of some of Europe’s best football this season. The German possesses the ability to control the tempo of the game through his wide range of both short and long passing, as well the ability to play out of a press.

What makes this transfer even more plausible is that the player seems open to a move away from the Westfalenstadion in order to work with Guardiola.
