Wolves are interested in a summer swoop for Southampton’s Portuguese international right-back Cedric Soares, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, as relayed by the Daily Echo.
They report that Nuno Santo is looking to add yet another Portuguese player to his Old Gold squad, and the fact that Cedric is now on loan at Inter Milan has raised hopes that a deal can be done.
Matt Doherty has been one of the stand-out stars of Wolves’ season but he could do with some competition for his place at right wing-back and Cedric’s attacking intent makes him ideal for that.
But back in January, the Daily Star reported that Everton are also looking at Cedric to replace Seamus Coleman, who has been a loyal servant to the club but has dropped his level somewhat this season.

Inter reportedly have the option to sign Cedric permanently when his loan spell ends but he has not been able to nail down a regular starting spot, raising the prospect that he could be set for a return to the Premier League.
In truth, the wingback role at Wolves could suit Soares better, but he would have to accept a back-up role because Doherty has been so good this season.
Everton’s right-back berth looks more up for grabs but that would put more strain on Cedric’s defensive capabilities, which have been shaky at times during the more recent stages of his Southampton spell.
