Should Everton raid Real Madrid and solve their problem area for just £13m?

Everton are likely to explore the possibility of bringing a new striker to Goodison Park in January as summer signing Moise Kean struggles to live up to his £29million price tag – and a Real Madrid striker should be on their shortlist.

Kean is yet to score for Everton following his big-money move to Merseyside from Juventus. It is not the first time Everton have spent big on a new striker, and he has failed to produce.

Cenk Tosun joined the club for £27million from Besiktas, but he is expected to leave the club in the near future. Dom Calvert-Lewin has been relied upon for goals and although he is capable of scoring, it is not as regular as Romelu Lukaku.

Since the Belgian left, Everton have needed to sign a striker capable of scoring above 15 goals in a Premier League season. Now, their attention should turn to Real Madrid in a bid to finally end their problem area up front.

Spanish outlet El Desmarque claim Real Madrid are willing to offload Mariano Diaz in January, for a bargain £13million. Karim Benzema and Luka Jovic have pushed the former Lyon striker down the pecking order.

So much so, Diaz has failed to make a single appearance under Zinedine Zidane this season. But Diaz has been harshly treated, especially given the quality of the striker.

In July 2017, Real Madrid sold Diaz to Lyon and he scored 21 goals in 48 games. It saw Real buy him back after just 12 months, but he has since been afforded just 33 outings – a staggering 27 of which have been from the bench. He still scored nine times.

There is no doubt that, given the game time, Mariano will score goal after goal – like he did at Lyon. Bringing him to Everton would see him get that game time, and score on a regular basis. All for a bargain £13million.
