Antoine Griezmann – Atlético Madrid
Potentially one of the stars of this year’s Champions League competition, Antoine Griezmann has shot to world fame through his goal-scoring exploits with Atlético and has more than justified the reported £24 million which took him from Real Sociedad to the Spanish capital. The Frenchman possesses an undoubted amount of natural flair and is capable of playing to a high standard in a number of roles all across the attack.
Clearly demonstrating his ability to perform on the biggest stage of them all, Griezmann has already scored crucial goals against both Barcelona and Bayern Munich on Atlético’s path to the final and should he also hit the back of the net against Real Madrid – a distinct possibility – then his superb season will be completely set in stone.
Chelsea have not been up to scratch in every area of the pitch this season, and their significantly blunted attacking efforts have been no different. Plagued by injury, lack of form and an apparent lack of effort, the likes of Eden Hazard and Oscar have not stepped up and risk having their places in the team usurped by a summer addition. Antoine Griezmann could be just the man for this and would surely slot in perfectly alongside Diego Costa, in behind him, or even ploughing a lone furrow up front when Conte believes that to the best option.
Griezmann currently residing at Atlético may prove to be an advantage for the Stamford Bridge outfit, as they are a club which The Blues have already established a relationship with after the ‘double transfer’ of Filipe Luis, the extended loan of Thibaut Courtois, and the acquisition of Diego Costa. Should Roman Abramovic be willing to splash out a hefty amount of cash, they would surely be securing a superstar in their ranks if Antoine Griezmann came to London.
