Should Celtic fringe player Lewis Morgan seek a January loan exit?

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers decided to keep Lewis Morgan this summer, rather than loan him out.

But that decision has limited Morgan’s game time and he might start thinking about a temporary exit this January.

Celtic won the race for the young winger last January and immediately loaned him back to St Mirren.

The exciting youngster was hitting high numbers in both goals and assists in the Scottish Championship and he helped St Mirren win promotion to the top flight.

But since moving to Celtic Park, his game time has been limited.

The 22-year-old has featured just six times for the Bhoys. And his three league outings have come from the bench.

At another club, the twice-capped Scotland international could be the star man.

There are bound to be clubs in England and Scotland willing to take him from January until the end of the season.

Perhaps Morgan could even re-join St Mirren again and help them fight for survival.

A loan spell away from Celtic would allow Morgan to show Rodgers just what he can do before next season.

There is no denying that Morgan has plenty of talent and a lot of potential.

But for the sake of his development, a January loan move would be the most sensible short-term solution for all parties.
