Pedro Chirivella has lauded Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after his FA Cup semi-final display against Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are still on course for an unprecedented quadruple after seeing off the Citizens at Wembley on Saturday.

Liverpool were rampant from the off in the capital and led their title rivals 3-0 by half-time.

Ibrahima Konate opened the scoring with a header after just nine minutes.

The Frenchman has nodded home the opener for Liverpool in both legs against Benfica and now against City.

Then, City goalkeeper Zack Steffen gifted Sadio Mane a second in the 17th minute.

He hesitated for far too long after controlling a back pass.

This allowed the £34million forward to run into the box and slide the ball into the net.

Mane then went on to add a third, capping off a superb team move to volley in at the near post.

However, City fought back in the second half and came close to forcing extra time.

Jack Grealish pulled one back for City early in the second half, before Bernardo Silva slotted home in the 90th minute.

Nonetheless, Liverpool had chances of their own to extend their lead in injury time.

Alexander-Arnold delivered an impressive display as he defended well, particularly in the first half.

He kept Phil Foden quiet and also played a part in Liverpool’s third goal.

The 23-year-old took to Instagram to praise Mane after the match.

And Chirivella, who came through the ranks at Liverpool alongside Alexander-Arnold, was one of many who responded.

He joked that his former teammate’s right foot is so good “it should be illegal”.

Liverpool are next in action on Tuesday, hosting Manchester United at Anfield in the Premier League.
