'Should be able to win': Paul Merson shares his Crystal Palace v Aston Villa prediction
Crystal Palace and Aston Villa go head to head in the Premier League today.
Two of the Premier League’s greatest ever midfielders will be in the dugout as the Eagles and the Villans vie for points.
Patrick Vieira has been superb so far at Palace, while Steven Gerrard has recently taken the Villa reins.
Palace played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Burnley last time out, and go into the game 10th in the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, Gerrard steered Villa to a 2-0 win over Brighton last week and will be hoping for two consecutive victories.
The Villans are currently 15th in the standings, four points above the relegation zone.
Paul Merson has given his verdict on who could triumph between Palace and Villa.
“I watched Aston Villa play under Steven Gerrard last week, and I thought they were quite fortunate in the end,” he wrote on Sportskeeda.
“If Gerrard wasn’t their manager, the fans would’ve been a bit frustrated with that performance.
“They scored two late goals against Brighton, and now they seem to have got their confidence back.
“I love the way Crystal Palace have gone about their business so far.
“They’re scoring lots of goals, and Patrick Vieira has got them playing very well at the moment.
“Steven Gerrard needs more time to get his team to play the way he wants.
“Patrick, on the other hand, had more of a chance to get his team together and should be able to win this game.”
Merson capped off the piece by predicting a 2-1 win for Palace.
