Everton forward Bassala Sambou has recently been linked with a move to Swedish football. It has been reported that Ostersunds could be keen on the German attacker.
“You never know, but I haven’t heard anything more there. It is not likely that something happens.”
However, the Swedish side’s manager Ian Burchnall has told Ostersund-Posten that a deal for Sambou is currently unlikely.
It comes in the same week that it was reported Sambou could be on his way out of the club this summer.
The Liverpool Echo has reported that Sambou has rejected a new deal at Goodison Park. He has struggled to make his way into the first-team picture on Merseyside.
So should Sambou reconsider his position at Everton?
A move to Sweden would have undoubtedly been a good switch for the player. But now that seems to be off the table staying at Finch Farm must be something he is considering.
There is likely to be interest in his services from the Football League. But Sambou could easily remain contracted to Everton and find a loan move to the Championship and League One as equally beneficial.
If this was about a fresh start in a new country, then Sambou was making a bold career decision leaving Everton. But if he is now set to remain in England, doing so as a loanee whilst remaining at Everton must be considered.
