Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Some will say this is unrealistic, but Arsenal need a striker of the higher echelons to vastly improve and seriously contest on all fronts. It is widely known Arsenal have some funds behind them but have been reluctant to splash out – Manchester City style – but it has reached a point now where they can’t afford to maintain this policy. With Pep Guardiola’s imminent arrival at City, Jurgen Klopp entering his first full season at Liverpool, and Antonio Conte heading to Chelsea, all with money ready to use, Arsenal can’t be left behind.
39 goals and 12 assists in 47 games for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this season is exceptional and a sign of a striker at the top end of his game. Taken from Saint Etienne in 2013 as an unknown quantity, he has progressed leaps and bounds becoming one of the best strikers in Europe. Quick, strong and clinical, Aubameyang is the ingredient that can come close to solving Arsenal’s yearly problems up front. He has scored a goal every 95 minutes in all competitions during the 2015/16 campaign, whilst Olivier Giroud has played five more games and has a ratio of a goal every 156 minutes.
Aubameyang would be the perfect upgrade on what they already have. If Arsenal can fork out up to £50 million for the Gabon international, he would surely be worth the money.
