‘Shone more than anything’: Rio Ferdinand raves about £30m Liverpool target’s World Cup performances
Rio Ferdinand has raved about reported Liverpool target Jude Bellingham’s World Cup performances on his YouTube channel today.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund star in recent weeks as Jurgen Klopp aims to bolster his midfield options.
Their weaknesses in midfield have been evident this season with injuries to key players like Jordan Henderson and Thiago, while Fabinho’s form has dipped massively.
Journalist Christian Falk claimed this week that Liverpool are the current favourites to sign Bellingham ahead of Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a brilliant World Cup campaign with England before being knocked out by France last night. And Ferdinand has raved about the Dortmund midfielder’s displays in Qatar.
Ferdinand raves about Bellingham
“Jude Bellingham undoubtedly comes out of this tournament as a player whose reputation has enhanced to an unimaginable heights,” Ferdinand said on FIVE.
“Like what he’s going to do in his career, his personality, his character in this game [against France] it shone more than anything for me. Still probing and trying.
“His pass was the one that got us the penalty at the end to make it as if it was going to be 2-2. A raking 30 to 40 yard pass. He showed so many different layers to his game.
“This guy is an all action Roy of the Rovers, he’s a guy who does everything. I don’t know where his ceiling is in terms of what he can achieve and what he can be.”
Bellingham looked devastated after England fell to a 2-1 defeat to France last night but the youngster can certainly hold his head up high after his displays.
There have been some positive reports coming out about Bellingham’s possible move to Anfield recently and it seems Liverpool are leading the race to sign him at the moment.
The £30 million midfielder built a brilliant relationship with Jordan Henderson during the tournament too, which could help in their attempts to lure him to Merseyside.
