Celtic are reportedly interested in raiding Austrian side Wolfsberger AC for goal machine Shon Weissman this summer, with the powerful forward having netted 31 goals this season – and the powerhouse has commented on his future.
Weissman, 24, has taken his tally to 31 goals for the season since the Austrian Bundesliga restarted. He has two goals and two assists in three games following the return to action, scoring 31 in just 33 games.
Not only has the Israel international starred in Austria, but the striker has also scored twice in this season’s Europa League group stages – finding the back of the net against both Roma and Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Telegraph state Celtic have identified Weissman as an option, with Odsonne Edouard being linked with Arsenal. The report also says Weissman could be signed for just £4.5million, and he has responded to the rumours.
“I want to concentrate only on the end of the season at the club,” Weissman said, as quoted by the Daily Record. “We have eight games to go and I’ve told my agent I don’t want to hear anything about the speculation. I don’t care.”

TBR’s view – Weissman has enormous resale value
That is, if Celtic can really sign the Israeli for just £4.5million despite his excellent goalscoring rate in Austria and in the Europa League. It shows Weissman certainly boasts enough quality to score in Scotland.
But scoring goals at Celtic seemingly adds value. Edouard was bought for £9million and is expected to be sold for more than three times that, while Moussa Dembele was bought for less than £1million and sold for £20million.
If Weissman can score as much as he has done in Austria, in Scotland, signing him for just £4.5million will give Celtic a player with an enormous resale value.
