Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted he tried to bring Shinji Kagawa back to the Westfalenstadion this summer, but Kagawa turned him down instantly, as he wants to succeed at United. The Japanese playmaker had an average season at United, and he himself admitted he needs to perform better.
The 24-year old signed for Dortmund back in 2010 for a mere £350,000, and in his two seasons in Germany he secured back-to-back Bundesliga titles under Klopp.
Dortmund boss, Jurgen Klopp said:
[blockquote float=”left” align=”left”]“It was clear relatively quickly, Shinji wants to prevail this year at Manchester United. “I did not expect a different answer, you just have to ask even once.”[/blockquote]
Towards the end of last season we saw glimpses of Kagawa’s brilliance, including a Man of the Match performance away at West Ham and a hat-trick of goals at home to Norwich. If he can put in performances like these on a regular basis he’ll make a massive impact this season.
