Sheyi Ojo and Michael Beale have both reacted on social media as Jordan Henderson held aloft the Premier League trophy for Liverpool in the Reds final game of the 2019-20 campaign at Anfield.
Liverpool restored their enormous 18-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with an enthralling 5-3 win over Chelsea, before Henderson came onto the pitch to lift the trophy – having missed the game through injury.
Naby Keita, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Gini Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all found the back of the net – while Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham netted for Chelsea.
But the game was more about the trophy lift after full-time, and among fireworks and huge celebrations from supporters outside of Anfield – which have been criticised – Henderson lifted the trophy.
It finally sees Liverpool end their hunt for a Premier League trophy, and it is the club’s first top-tier title since 1990. It sparked supporters, pundits, former teammates and others into a frenzy on Instagram and Twitter.
At Scottish side Rangers, there is a blossoming Liverpool connection and both Steven Gerrard and Michael Beale reacted on social media – as did versatile attacker Sheyi Ojo, who spent the past season on loan with the Gers.
