Sherwood claims Spurs player will have his ‘head in his hands’ despite Sunday win

Tim Sherwood has told Optus Sport’s coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-0 win over Sheffield United as saying that Harry Kane will have his “head in his hands” in the Spurs changing room after failing to score on Sunday evening.

Spurs eased to a comfortable 4-0 win over the Blades as Ryan Mason picked up a second win in two Premier League games since taking interim charge of the North London club. They have climbed into sixth place, five off Chelsea.

Kane, meanwhile, has enjoyed another stunning season at Spurs. The England skipper has amassed a huge 47 goal involvements in 45 games – scoring 31, 21 of which have come in the Premier League. He is one ahead of Mo Salah.

With Spurs struggling to catch Chelsea in the race for the top four and without any kind of silverware, Kane will be desperate to at least win the golden boot – his first since 2016-17. Sherwood says he will be frustrated.

“The only disappointing thing, I can tell you now – I can see him in the dressing room as we speak. Harry Kane will have his head in his hands thinking ‘we played against the worst team in the league and I have not scored’.

Sherwood continued, on Optus Sport: “He will come out and say the right things like ‘it’s all about the win’ but he will be devastated that he hasn’t added to his tally.”

TBR’s view – Winning golden boot shows just how good Kane is

Indeed, winning the golden boot in a side that are likely not to finish in the top four is incredible. Scoring 21 goals already, despite missing three of Tottenham’s 34 Premier League games, is stunning for a fifth-placed side.

With a somewhat slightly easier run in than their rivals, Spurs have a slim chance of achieving a top-four spot. With Leeds, Wolves, Villa and Leicester to play, Kane has chances to score and a good chance of winning the golden boot.
