Sheffield Wednesday attacker Lucas Joao is reportedly closing in on a move to Reading – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are pleased with the speculation.

According to the Sheffield Star, the 25-year-old is “on the brink” of a switch to Championship counterparts Reading.

It is understood that Wednesday have reached an agreement with Reading over a deal for the striker and he is set for a medical on Tuesday.

Joao has been at Hillsborough since 2015 and is now set for a departure after a four-year spell.

The Portuguese ace has 29 goals in 127 appearances for the club, but has struggled to cement his spot in the team and has often proven his value as an impact substitute.

He came off the bench at the weekend during the first game of the Championship season and scored a late goal in the 3-1 win over Reading.

The centre-forward may have just scored against his new employers, but has clearly impressed them and may soon be fighting to break into their team.

A selection of Wednesday supporters on social media seem thrilled that Joao is heading for the exit doors and believes the move makes sense for all parties involved.

There is a number of attacking options already on the books at Wednesday and they should be able to cope without him.
