Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly set to sign Newcastle United’s Rolando Aarons on loan for the rest of the season.
According to Sky Sports, the Owls are going to sign the 23-year-old and his Newcastle teammate Achraf Lazaar will also make the move to Hillsborough on loan.
Manager Steve Bruce looks set to make an immediate mark on the side with a couple of additions on deadline day and he could end up striking gold.
Aarons could be a great signing for Wednesday if Bruce manages to unlock his full potential, which he’s not quite managed to do at St James’ Park.
The Englishman is a left-winger with great pace and trickery, who came through the Newcastle academy with great promise.
But he’s fallen away from the Magpies first team in the last year, with miserable loan spells at Hellas Verona and Slovan Liberec.
A drop down to the Championship could help get him back on track and an injection of pace is exactly what Wednesday need in wide areas.
He’s an attacker that needs his confidence restoring, but if he builds some momentum has the potential to cause some damage and add an extra dimension in the final third for Wednesday.
