Billy Sharp has been on fire for Sheffield United this season, spearheading their push for promotion in the Championship.
The Sheffield-born striker has scored 16 league goals, making him the division’s joint top scorer alongside Tammy Abraham.
And with five goals in his last four games, Sharp is hitting a purple patch at just the right time for the Blades.
But it could have all been so very different as Sheffield United might have sold him last summer.
According to The Sunderland Echo, Sharp was a target for League One side Sunderland.
But according to The Chronicle, it was Sharp’s decision to stay at Bramall Lane; he turned down a deadline day switch to The Stadium of Light.

The 32-year-old is a boyhood Sheffield United fan and did not want to leave the club.
And Sheffield United fans will be absolutely delighted about that decision now with Sharp leading his side towards the automatic promotion spots.
Sunderland fans, on the other hand, will be left wondering what might have been if Sharp had agreed a move.
Josh Maja is on fire for the Black Cats but with Charlie Wyke injured, another striker would have been helpful.
And if Sharp is scoring for fun in the Championship, you can only wonder what he might have done in League One.
