Celtic will struggle to sign defender George Baldock from newly-promoted Sheffield United this summer, according to Sky Sports News.
They report that the Bhoys were keen on the 26-year-old to boost their defensive options, but have been knocked back swiftly by Chris Wilder’s men.
The report says that Celtic had made an approach for the Englishman, who has just the one year left on his current Blades contract – but it seems unlikely now that the swoop will get any further.
It also points out that Chris Wilder has said that he’ll give opportunities to the players who got United promoted last season in the Premier League next term.

For a player who has battled through the lower leagues in England, the Premier League represents a major opportunity for Baldock.
But Celtic could have offered European football and a longer contract with Baldock’s deal situation at Bramall Lane dwindling.
Wilder has created intense loyalty among his squad of players who are largely unfashionable names but work incredibly hard for him – and all deserve their shot at the English top flight.
But Baldock would have been a clear upgrade on Celtic’s right back options now, with that position being arguably the weakest in the Bhoys’ ranks right now.
