A number of Sheffield United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Sunday People (19/1; page 49) suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur want Jack O’Connell.
Like many of his teammates, O’Connell has been a revelation in the Premier League. The 25-year-old has been at Bramall Lane since the club’s most recent stint in League One and has risen through the leagues.

The Blades boast the second best defensive record in the top flight. Chris Wilder’s side have conceded just 22 goals in 23 games.
O’Connell has started every game for United this season. And it appears that his form has not gone unnoticed by their Premier League rivals.

The Sunday People (19/1; page 49) reports that Spurs are keen on the centre-back as they prepare for life without Jan Vertonghen.
And the Tottenham fans should certainly take note of what the Blades supporters make of the reports.
Plenty have insisted that the club must only consider selling for a marquee figure. There have been a few suggestions of an asking price of well over £50 million.
It is clear that the Sheffield United supporters have absolutely no interest in cashing in on O’Connell. And that should be particularly encouraging for Tottenham should they manage to convince the Blades to consider a sale.
