Sheffield United took a step closer to Premier League football next season after thumping Hull City 3-0 at the KCOM Stadium.

The Blades have won both their fixtures over the Easter period and with Leeds losing both, promotion is now in their hands.

Chris Wilder’s team face Ipswich Town at Bramall Lane next week knowing that a win will practically put them in the top-flight for next season.

The Easter Monday victory over the Tigers was secured thanks to a brace from David McGoldrick and a goal from Enda Stevens.

The striker has been in fine form this season, bagging 14 goals towards his team’s promotion push. What makes it even more impressive is that the 31-year-old was a free transfer at the start of the campaign.

McGoldrick was without a club having left Ipswich at the end of his contract last season and Wilder took a punt on the talisman.

His link-up play with Billy Sharp and Gary Madine has been superb this season.

The Blades supporters were absolutely delighted with their player yesterday as he added a massive two goals towards his tally for the season.

Following the game, the supporters took to Twitter to rave about McGoldrick and his qualities.
