Sheffield United gained a significant psychological advantage in the race for promotion to the Premier League by beating Leeds United 1-0.

All eyes were fixed towards Elland Road for the Yorkshire-derby that saw second and third lock horns in the Championship.

Chris Basham’s goal 19 minutes from time secured the victory for the Blades.

The solid win sees Chris Wilder’s men leapfrog Leeds up into second place.

A remarkable run of form has seen the Blades unbeaten in seven games, whilst they haven’t conceded a goal during that period.

Basham’s fourth goal of the season won the day for the Blades and he has been a significant force in Wilder’s team.

The 30-year-old has played 34 games for United, making one of the central defensive spots his own.
