Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder watched Liverpool dominate his side at Anfield last night and showered Jurgen Klopp’s side with praise.
Klopp’s side were first to everything in the 2-0 win and Wilder is full of admiration for the way they marry technical quality with hard work all over the pitch.
He said on BT Sport, via the Daily Mail: “They were outstanding, and did not really get out of second or third gear. They did all those things. They won every first ball, every second ball, ran forwards and backwards, they did that miles better than us.
“Played in second and third gear but still had the humility and the desire to do that as world champions and European champions. I wish Jurgen and Liverpool all the best. I love everything about them – the physical and mental part of it is amazing, and if that’s good enough for them then it’s certainly good enough for anybody else.”
TBR’s View – There won’t be many sides who make playing Sheffield United look that easy
Liverpool are on another level. They made a mockery of a busy festive period and a host of injuries to utterly dominate a side who have given everyone a game this season.
The Blades gave the Reds a real fright earlier in the season but Klopp had clearly learned his lessons from that match and sent out a team which didn’t give them a sniff last night.
