Tottenham Hotspur chiefs will be keeping a very close eye on how Josh Onomah performs this weekend.

As he prepares for the Steel City derby, it will be the biggest test of his character to date.

If he can impress in this game and not let the occasion get the better of him, it could be an indicator that he is set for a successful career with Spurs.

Onomah is currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, where his fortunes have been mixed.

After a hit-and-miss spell at Aston Villa last season, Onomah will be hoping to kick on this season.

And the 21-year-old already has two assists to his name for Sheffield Wednesday in seven Championship matches.

But he was widely criticised for last week’s display against Norwich City and he needs to bounce back now.

There is no better game for him to silence the doubters than the Sheffield derby.

The Owls travel to Bramall Lane for a tasty Friday night clash with rivals Sheffield United.

The Blades are flying high in the Championship but Sheffield Wednesday will be eager to derail their promotion push.

This is a major opportunity for Onomah to impressive his parent club and any watching spectators.

The England under-21 international has a lot of talented attacking midfielders blocking his route to the Spurs first-team so he needs to seize occasions like this to ensure his career lies with Tottenham.
