Alan Shearer has named Harry Kane in his Premier League team of the week, and labelled the Tottenham Hotspur talisman’s recent form ‘sensational’.

Kane helped inspire Spurs to a hugely important victory over West Ham. Antonio Conte’s men went into the game still awaiting their first back-to-back wins since the turn of the year.

Of course, the Hammers were a side who also had their sights set on a top-four spot also. But ultimately, Tottenham dealt David Moyes’ men’s hopes a massive blow.

Kurt Zouma scored an own goal and Son Heung-min found the back of the net on two occasions as Spurs secured a 3-1 win. Conte’s side now sit just three points adrift of Arsenal with a North London derby still to come.

Kane did not score in the victory for Tottenham. But he certainly played a vital role in the win. The 28-year-old set up all three goals for the home side.

The highlight came when he produced a stunning through ball into the path of Son for his first and Spurs’ second.

Obviously, it is little surprise to see Kane named in Shearer’s team of the week after only a handful of games were played. But the pundit insisted that he has been hugely impressed with the forward’s form for some time.

“Forced the opening goal with his cross and produced two assists for Son Heung-min. In sensational form right now,” he told the Premier League website.

Kane could be a difference-maker as Tottenham push for top-four spot

Both Arsenal and Tottenham are flying right now. They are both moving in the right direction. And it does appear that it may come down to the two of them for that fourth spot.

The Gunners have been outstanding this season. But there is one area of the squad where they find themselves miles behind Tottenham.

Alexandre Lacazette has been excellent for much of this campaign. But goals have not been his strong point.

Kane has matched Lacazette’s tally for the season in the last four games for Tottenham.
