Liverpool will regret not taking advantage of Manchester United’s injury problems at Old Trafford yesterday and pushing more for a win, according to Alan Shearer in the Sun.
The Reds went back to the top of the Premier League with the 0-0 draw against their bitterest rivals but Shearer reportedly feels they might have had more on another day.
Shearer said: “If Liverpool do not win the Premier League now, they will look back with regret at this performance against Manchester United.
“They will never have a better chance of going to Old Trafford and beating Manchester United. They missed a really good opportunity to go at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United and may regret not trying to win it.”

And those three first half injuries for United – which forced Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard off the pitch – handed the initiative to Liverpool in a match where a win would have made a real statement to Manchester City.
That lack of intent to go and win the game may be a regret for Klopp but perhaps more concerning was his side’s lack of ability to create chances against a depleted opponent, forced to concoct a backup strategy on the hoof.
Either way, whether this was one point gained or two dropped will only really become clear as the season wears on, especially as City still need to go to Old Trafford later on this season.
