‘Shameful display’ – Some Liverpool fans criticise Jordan Henderson

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was sent off yesterday but his side still managed to beat Watford.

With Liverpool 2-0 up, Henderson was given his marching orders but Roberto Firmino’s late goal ensured the visitors won 3-0 at Vicarage Road.

Despite the win, Henderson was still widely criticised by a section of Liverpool fans for his rash display.

Henderson picked up two yellow cards for petulant and unnecessary fouls and he looked hot-headed before he was sent off.

With the likes of Naby Keita, James Milner, Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum competing with Henderson in central midfield this season, game time has not been a given.

And the England international certainly did himself no favours by receiving a needless red card, which will rule him out of the Merseyside derby next Sunday.

Henderson will be available for selection in midweek as Liverpool travel to PSG. It is a vital Champions League clash and he will be eager to be involved.

But he faces a battle to convince Jurgen Klopp that he should play after his Watford display.

Below are some tweets from Liverpool fans discussing Henderson’s red card and overall performance.
