Former goalkeeper Shaka Hislop reckons a move to Anfield would not make sense for Timo Werner.
The speedy German international has been loosely linked with a move to the Reds for most of the summer, with The Mirror reporting all the way back in March that contact had been made.

The star is now into the final year of his contract at RB Leipzig, something Hislop thinks the player should be taking into consideration.
Speaking on ESPN FC, the ex-West Ham stopper said: “This makes sense from a Liverpool perspective.
“But if I’m Timo Werner, last year of my contract or not, I think I’m starting somewhere. And I don’t see Timo Werner getting into Liverpool’s front three anytime soon.
“So from the club’s perspective, yes, but from the player’s perspective, it doesn’t make an awful lot of sense.”

With the transfer window closing next week, time is fast running out if Werner is indeed intent on joining the Champions League winners this summer.
TBR’s view
Hislop is probably right that Werner would not be a starter ahead of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino Sadio Mane.
That said, the Reds only have Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri in reserve so there would likely be plenty of opportunities afforded to him.

Any of the starting three could pick up an injury, and he would definitely be Jurgen Klopp’s first point of call.
With one year left on his deal, Werner could be a brilliant last-minute pickup by Liverpool and such a transfer would certainly do down well with a frustrated fanbase.
