Steven Gerrard’s pre-season plans are taking shape as Rangers enjoyed an emphatic victory over Oxford United. Rangers won 5-0 at Ibrox as Gerrard eyes success with his side next season.
It was a chance for him to run the rule over a number of players, including new signings and youngsters. He would have been impressed as new boys Greg Stewart and Sheyi Ojo found the net, as well as teenager Lewis Mayo.
Gerrard also gave an opportunity to another promising teenager: Josh McPake. The 17-year-old winger was given a few minutes to impress (before a minor injury cut his game short) and he caught the eye.
After being voted the academy’s player of the year last season, McPake is aiming to impress Gerrard in pre-season. And one particular skill wowed the Ibrox crowd.
The talented teenager was not intimidated to walk out at Ibrox and show what he can do. He received the ball by the touchline and produced a sublime swivel and chip over the defender to beat his man.
Rangers’ official account posted a gif of this audacious skill and here are some fans reacting to this.
