Reports claim that Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla side are interested in raiding Tottenham Hotspur in January to sign Steven Bergwijn. Could Spurs actually use that interest to their advantage, to sign a £68million player themselves?
Bergwijn, 24, got just his fifth goal in a Tottenham shirt on Wednesday night. Spurs beat West Ham in the Carabao Cup 2-1, with the Netherlands ace laying on an assist for Lucas Moura’s winner – after Jarrod Bowen equalised.
But his future is in doubt. Sky Sports claim that Sevilla are among the clubs interested in signing the ex-PSV Eindhoven attacker. Indeed, a move to La Liga – perhaps on loan – might tempt Bergwijn to swap Spurs for Spain.
Back in the summer, Fabio Paratici was keen to raid Sevilla for France international Jules Kounde. Of course, Paratici did orchestrate a player-plus-cash deal with Sevilla – paying them £21.6million and Erik Lamela for Bryan Gil.

Could Tottenham striker player-plus-cash deal for Kounde, with Bergwijn?
ABC Sevilla report that Tottenham have reignited their interest in signing France defender Kounde. The versatile ace, who has a release clause worth £68million, rejected Spurs back in the summer.
But if Sevilla want to sign Bergwijn, and Tottenham are seemingly willing to entertain offers for the Netherlands ace, then surely Spurs have got to consider a player-plus-cash deal in which they offer Bergwijn and cash for Kounde.
Bergwijn was bought for around £27million by Tottenham, from PSV. While he is probably not worth that figure anymore, if Spurs offered a fee north of £35million and Bergwijn – Sevilla would surely consider it.
